GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION
Ferghana region is located in the south-east of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the southern part of Ferghana Valley. The region borders with Tajikistan in north-west, with Kyrgyzstan in the south, with Namangan region in the north and Andijan region of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the east. Area of the region constitutes 6.8 thousand sq. km or 1.5% of the territory of the republic. Total border length is 600 km. Flatlands comprise 79% of the region’s area and remaining 21% account to mountains and foothills. The region includes following 15 districts: Altyaryk, Akhunbabaev, Bagdad, Besharyk, Buvaydin, Dangarin, Kuvin, Rishtan, Sokh, Tashlak, Uzbekiston, Uchkuprik, Ferghana, Furkat and Yazvin regions. Ferghana city is the administrative center. Other big cities are Kokand, Margilan and Kuvasay. Climate is continental with mild winter and hot summer seasons.
