67 enterprises conduct industrial activity in the region. In 2007, total industrial production output amounted to 1 850.7 billion soums (1 470 million US dollars) of which more than 99% was produced in non-state sector. Most developed branches of industry are oil and gas, textile, chemical, silk production, energy sector, fat-and-oil industry as well as production of building materials. In the region, there are produced following types of industrial products: oil processing equipment, silk and cotton fabrics, clothing and footwear. There function a number of thermal power stations. There functions a factory producing national ceramic dishware in Rishtan. Oil and Gas Industry One of the leading enterprises in Central Asia producing fuels and lubricants is Ferghana Oil-Processing Plant (FNPZ) established in 1958. The enterprises produces 45 types of oil products including light oils (oil solvent, kerosene, benzine), fuels (oil fuel, fuel oil, diesel fuel and fuel for jet engines), oils (engine and turbine oils), bitumen, cokes and lubricants. In year 2000, Japanese companies “Mitsui” and “Toyo Engineering” completed reconstruction of the plant for the purpose of raising the quality of light oil products to compliance with world standards and improving environmental conditions. Amount of project financing amounted to more than 200.0 million US dollars. Chemical Industry In the region, there functions Ferghana Plant of Chemical Fibers which is one of the leading enterprises in the CIS producing acetate threads. The enterprise possesses a newest production line for production of granulated material of Polyamide-6 and cord fabric. There is another chemical industry enterprise in the region: Ferghana Chemicals Plant of Furane Compounds which produces cotton cellulose of various grades which is widely applied in many branches of industry. OJSC “Kokand Superphosphate Plant” is one the first chemical enterprises of the country which was put in operation in 1935. The enterprise specializes in production of mineral fertilizers for agriculture as well as superphosphates. In the region, there also functions OJSC “Ferghanaazot” which is a monopoly producer of cellulose acetates in the CIS and one of the largest producers of magnesium chromate defoliant and sodium chromate. Textile Industry “Daewoo-Ferghana-Textile” conducts its activity in the region. Production capacities of the enterprise allow producing 21 thousand tons of yarn and 12 million running meters of gray cloth per year. Processing of Fruits and Vegetables Products In the region, there function 9 fruits and vegetables processing enterprises: JV “Delkons”, Canning Factory “Uchkuprik Ros”, JV “MS Food Processing Co.”, JV “Shark Ne’matlari”, Kuva Canning Factory, JV “Mega Dry”, Wine-Producing Factory “T. Shodiev” and Wine-Vodka Producing Factory OJSC “Mastona”. These enterprises process around 14 million tons of fruit and vegetable products. For example, Uzbek-British JV “Delkons” produces more than 100 product articles including fruit and vegetable preservatives, juices and fruit pastes. Machinery Construction In Ferghana region, there functions Uzbek-British JV CJSC “Eurasia TAPO-Disk” since 1998 which produces 19 modifications fourteen inch and 13 modifications of fifteen inch steel pressed wheel disks for automobile cars. Production capacity comprises around 1.1 million disks per year. The enterprise is a supplier of GM Uzbekistan and AvtoVAZ. At present time, the enterprise has capacities to independently conduct design works. Production of Building Materials Joint-Stock Company “Kvartz” is one of the leading enterprises in Central Asia producing glass jars, bottles, sheet glass; colored and tinted glass as well as glasses for automobile building industry. JS “Kvartz” has become one of the biggest enterprises of the country during its more than 33 year history; in 2006, it obtained conformance certificate of Quality Management System ISO-9001.
